I always recommend diluting essential oils when using them topically. What exactly does that mean, you ask?
The essential oils I use are 100% pure therapeutic essential oils. Using them directly on your skin might be fine in some instances, but I recommend always diluting them because you want to avoid a future sensitivity to that oil, or you may have sensitive skin.
Diluting means using a vegetable oil along with the essential oil. Something like coconut oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, etc. Whatever your favorite is. I like coconut oil because it’s good for your skin, and it doesn’t leave a greasy residue like some vegetable oils will.
Diluting can be done by applying your vegetable oil on the skin and then applying the essential oil (a drop or two) and rub them in. Or you can put a little vegetable oil in your hands and add essential oils, rub together and apply to the area that you’re targeting.
Diluting has an additional benefit. By adding it to the skin along with the essential oil, you are prolonging the benefit of that essential oil. Essential oils are volatile aromatic compounds that evaporate easily. By diluting, you extend the benefits.
